What are Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions?

Greenhouse gas emissions are grouped into three categories under the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Scope 1 covers direct emissions from owned sources, Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from purchased energy, and Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions across the value chain.
